The Holy Spirit...

Media Art using Antique Prayer card and World Wide Web.

Who are you, sweet light, that fills me
And illumines the darkness of my heart?
You lead me like a mother's hand,
And should you let go of me,
I would not know how to take another step.
You are the space
That embraces my being and buries it in yourself.
Away from you it sinks into the abyss
Of nothingness, from which you raised it to the light.
You, nearer to me than I to myself
And more interior than my most interior
And still impalpable and intangible
And beyond any name:
Holy Spirit eternal love!

Are you not the sweet manna
That from the Son's heart
Overflows into my heart,
The food of angels and the blessed?
He who raised himself from death to life,
He has also awakened me to new life
From the sleep of death.
And he gives me new life from day to day,
And at some time his fullness is to stream through me,
Life of your life indeed, you yourself:
Holy Spirit eternal life!

Are you the ray
That flashes down from the eternal Judge's throne
And breaks into the night of the soul
That had never known itself?
Mercifully relentlessly
It penetrates hidden folds.
Alarmed at seeing itself,
The self makes space for holy fear,
The beginning of that wisdom
That comes from on high
And anchors us firmly in the heights,
Your action,
That creates us anew:
Holy Spirit ray that penetrates everything!

Are you the spirit's fullness and the power
By which the Lamb releases the seal
Of God's eternal decree?
Driven by you
The messengers of judgment ride through the world
And separate with a sharp sword
The kingdom of light from the kingdom of night.
Then heaven becomes new and new the earth,
And all finds its proper place
Through your breath:
Holy Spirit victorious power!

Are you the master who builds the eternal cathedral,
Which towers from the earth through the heavens?
Animated by you, the columns are raised high
And stand immovably firm.
Marked with the eternal name of God,
They stretch up to the light,
Bearing the dome,
Which crowns the holy cathedral,
Your work that encircles the world:
Holy Spirit God's molding hand!

Are you the one who created the unclouded mirror
Next to the Almighty's throne,
Like a crystal sea,
In which Divinity lovingly looks at itself?
You bend over the fairest work of your creation,
And radiantly your own gaze
Is illumined in return.
And of all creatures the pure beauty
Is joined in one in the dear form
Of the Virgin, your immaculate bride:
Holy Spirit Creator of all!

Are you the sweet song of love
And of holy awe
That eternally resounds around the triune throne,
That weds in itself the clear chimes of each and every being?
The harmony,
That joins together the members to the Head,
In which each one
Finds the mysterious meaning of his being blessed
And joyously surges forth,
Freely dissolved in your surging:

Holy Spirit eternal jubilation!
St. Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein)

Mosaic by Anna Wyner at Our Lady of Walsingham

"Source of peace...
Light
come and enlighten me.
I am hungry,
come
nourish me.
I am thirsty,
come,
quench my thirst.
I am blind,
come
and give me
light.
I am poor,
come
and enrich me."

 rests in the soul of the righteous;
just like the dove in it's nest.

St. Gertrude sharing her thoughts with me this morning.....

"O Jesus, I offer You my poor love, placing it in the arms of Your ardent Spirit, in the furnace enkindled by your love.  O my Beloved, by Your divine power prepare me for spiritual warfare with the weapons of Your Spirit, since I do not rely upon myself, but on your goodness alone.  By Your unfathomable charity, root out of me anything that is not wholly Yours, so that, by the grace of Your love, invited and restored by Your loving sweetness, I may love You alone.  The sweet outpourings of Your Spirit make the burden of life seem brief and light.  Deign to cooperate with my works, so that my soul may magnify You eternally.  May my life be consecrated to You, and may my spirit rejoice in You, my Savior; then every thought and act will be praise and thanksgiving to You".

Heavenly Father,
Like St. Gertrude, root out of ME anything that is not wholly Yours!!  You know what I carry within me that is not good for me or does not glorify YOU!!  I want so much to become the woman YOU intended me to be!  Breathe Your Spirit into me this Pentecost!!  I am so tired of being consumed by things that don't even matter and keep me tied down to this material world and even worse...away from You, whom I am FINALLY learning to love so much!!  Give me, Your little friend who is, with Your grace, seeing her 'nothingness', the 'sweet, but secret kiss' as you did with St. Bernard!!  Enkindle my sinful little heart and make it shine in Your love!!
Amen!

Rite of Ordination of a Deacon...

Today was the 'Rite of Ordination of a Deacon' for one of our Seminarians.  Steve and I got up early to head out to the Church of St. James, about 2 hours from our home.  Alex went there last night, as he is now in this Diocese as a Seminarian.  This was my first time to witness this, and I must say that it was REALLY BEAUTIFUL!!  Tom, (the young man involved) looked SO happy...and I must say, VERY RELAXED!!  The Church was lovely and the Choir was HEAVENLY!!  Tom's parents looked so proud of him and all in all, it was a beautiful day!!  Alex was one of the Servers and I couldn't help thinking that Steve and I will be, with the grace of God, in the same place in about 5 years!!  It was a very moving experience and I'm very, VERY happy for Tom!!  May God continue to bless him, his family, (living and deceased), as they settle down from this VERY exciting day!!  Let us also keep in mind how important it is to pray for Vocations...especially those to the Priesthood.  Without Priests, we can not experience the joy of the Eucharist!!

A poem entitled 'The Dance'

He wakes me in the night.
Whispering in my ear,
from then on...
nothing is the same.
The Lover I've dreamed of
is right here with me...
has ALWAYS been here.
A passionate love affair begins,
making me feel lightheaded and alive!
The Lover shows glimpses of Himself
in everything and everyone I meet.
Yet, others are not aware,
that He is deep within them...
loving me.
The Lover and I dance...
He holds me close
as music rings in my ears
and I am safe,
knowing that I will always be His.
Ah! Dancing with the Holy Spirit!

Love's Rose

Embrace Me wholeheartedly,
and I will show you
that you do not lack.
You will grow in My light,
and blossom into a beautiful flower,
cultivated by Me.
You will be...
My little Rose!

I wrote this very early one morning after praying and the words, "Embrace ME wholeheartedly," came to my mind.I love when the Holy Spirit whispers in my ear! I used to keep a pencil and paper near my bed, so I could jot down things or dreams so I could remember them when I woke up. I really need to start doing that again!
When has the Holy Spirit whispered in YOUR ear...and what did He say??
